Honouring their Memory

“THEY SHALL NOT GROW OLD, AS WE THAT ARE LEFT GROW OLD. AGE SHALL NOT WEARY THEM, NOR THE YEARS CONDEMN. AT THE GOIING DOWN OF THE SUN AND IN THE MORNING, WE WILL REMEMBER THEM”

Whilst the group in no way wishes to glorify war and its terrible consequences, we do want to ensure that the memory of all those who served, and those who made the supreme sacrifice for our freedom, are never forgotten.

The group has, over time, had the privilege of meeting and getting to know a number of veterans, who are sadly no longer with us. It was our honour to know them, albeit for far too short a time, but we will always remember their humour, their stoicism, their dignity and their quiet bravery. Each of them a true Wiltshireman and a “Farmers Boy”

We have also visited a number of Commonwealth war graves cemeteries and memorials here in England, in France, and in Holland.

The sight of so many young men's names on gravestones bearing the badge of the Wiltshire Regiment is incredibly emotional and never ceases to move us to tears. It is in their memory and their name, that we do what we do. We hope that in some very small way, we can at least do them justice and acknowledge the debt we owe – which can never be repaid.

Rest in Peace
